چکیده

Recently we have isolated the genomic clones of rat cytochrome c oxidase subunit IV and determined the structural organization of the gene (1). Here we report the complete nucleotide sequence of the gene encoding rat cytochrome c oxidase subunit IV for the record. The rat cytochrome c oxidase subunit IV gene is composed of 6,106 nucleotides and is organized in five exons (exon 1; 44 bp, exon 2; 74 bp, exon 3; 168 bp, exon 4; 132 bp, exon 5; 235 bp) and four introns (intron 1; 969 bp, intron 2; 3,302 bp, intron 3; 391 bp and intron 4; 791 bp). The 5'-flanking region of the gene possesses several characteristic features common to a group of house-keeping genes as described elsewhere (1).

Molecular characterization of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) annulatus from Iran by sequences of cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) and the second internal transcribed spacer (ITS2)

Background: Traditionally, morphological features of Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) annulatus from closely-related ticks have been considered for their identification and differentiation. However, it is difficult and requires expertise in order to accurately identify and differentiate engorged female ticks and some developmental stages such as larva and nymph from other similar ticks. Hence, molecul...

Molecular Characterization and Phylogeny Analysis Based on Sequences of Cytochrome Oxidase gene From Hemiscorpius lepturus of Iran

Abstract: Background: Hemiscorpius lepturus is a medically important scorpion found along the Iranian borders, especially near to Khuzestan Province in the south-west of Iran. This is the only non-buthid scorpion which is potentially lethal in southern Iran and is responsible for severe dermonecrotic scorpionism. OBJECTIVES: In this study, DNA fragment of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase ...

Study of genetic diversity of Dussumieria acuta (Valenciennes, 1847) in Persian Gulf and Oman sea (Coast of the Hormozgan Province) using Cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene (COI)

In this study 12 specimens were collected from Bandar Jask, Qeshm Island and Bandare Lengeh in Hormozgan Province. DNA extraction was performed using Phenol-Chloroform method. A partial DNA sequence of Cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene (COI) was used to evaluate genetic diversity. The sequence of Cytochrome oxidase subunit I gene was done using specific primers designed based on sequences regis...

Taxonomic Position of Iranian Isolates of Eretmocerus mundus (Merect), a Parasitoid of Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius)

Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), is one of the most important pest of vegetable and fruit crops. This polyphagous pest has a range of natural enemies including the parasitoid Eretmocerus mundus (Merect) (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae). To determine the molecular profile and taxonomic status of Iranian isolates of E. mundus, parasitized B. tabaci samples were collected from cotton...

Two bovine genes for cytochrome c oxidase subunit IV: a processed pseudogene and an expressed gene.

We have isolated and analyzed 17 clones from a bovine genomic library in phage lambda Charon28 probed with a bovine liver cDNA for cytochrome c oxidase subunit IV. Restriction enzyme mapping and Southern analysis indicated that these clones represent only two genomic regions. One region was shown by nucleotide sequencing to contain a subunit IV pseudogene of the processed type. The other class ...
